Two deployments to Afghanistan. Two years as Private/Specialist, one year as Corporal and two years as Sergeant. One year as a system design documentation writer and system configuration support technician. Three years as a Network Administrator working with system design configuration and help desk. One and a half years as a security vulnerability analysis, POA&M Management. I am familiar with FISMA and FedRAMP authorization process and managing an IT environment to a compliance standard.

In Hayden Enterprises Inc. – setting up and documenting a network DMZ or perimeter network, routers and firewalls behind it for security isolation, Enabling the better use of the security appliances and streamlining bandwidth with fewer problems.

Monitor, manage and maintenance of connectivity for fixed and mobile assets on both the classified and unclassified LAN/WAN networks. Troubleshooting of satellite equipment, encryption equipment, routers, switches, etc., by utilizing, detailed standard operating procedures and both network/hardware monitoring tools and Remedy help desk ticketing tools. Spectrum of operation include 1,400 USCG routers/circuits, 170 ‘Rescue 21’ routers/circuits, 135 Classified routers/circuits as well as Coast Guard Cutter routers on both underway and shore-side ships.

Primary Network Administrator during designing, testing and implementation phases of top level Domain Name Service (DNS) servers rated for FIPS 199 High security rating. Administrator for the installation, operation, maintenance and quick emergency response of 5 data facilities, with 5 physical and/or virtual servers per site.Acquisition, configuration, and maintenance of Dell R710 servers with security hardened Gentoo Linux operating systems, supporting DNS infrastructures with the latest security practices and patches in keeping with industry and government standards and practices. Used Tenable Nessus Scanner and Retina NetworkSecurity & Vulnerability Scanner on a bi-weekly schedule to test design changes of servers. I managed documented and evaluated the findings and managed them through the remediation process. I worked with the design team evaluate remediation solutions and review false positive documentation. I worked with the ISSO to help track POA&M items and manage POA&M documentation.

Senior Transmission System Operator Maintainer for the Joint Network Node (JNN), for tactical signal communications support for the 82nd Airborne Division Combat Aviation Brigade and subordinate units. Network Operations Center (NOC) and Tactical Operations Center (TOC) network administrator for 6+ Forward Operating Bases during deployments. Two 12 month deployments to Afghanistan, responsibilities that included construction and layout of multiple operational areas, installation, operation, and maintenance of the Army Satellite Communications trailer (An/tsc-167f), operation of the Joint Node Network (JNN) shelter, troubleshooting and help desk for all supported units and equipment at more than 15 sites(10-50 users per site), personally responsible for equipment and spares valued in excess of $2 million USD, and responsible for the health, welfare, morale, training, and readiness of 7+ soldiers. Daily activities included satellite acquisition and tracking, signal strength analysis, Eb/No ratio balancing, Linkway TDMA and DMD-2050 FDMA Satellite Modems configuration using Telnet, Putty and SSH, TDMA and FDMA satellite network balancing, Cisco call manager configuration, Cisco call manager express configuration, addition and removal of all workstations, phones and printers to and from the network, troubleshooting malfunctions and service outages.
