The article I have decided to relate back to the modules learned throughout this semester, focuses on how an employee’s stress levels may impact their role in cybersecurity. The research conducted throughout this paper was comprised of nearly 230 employees across different organizations such as Healthcare, Retail, Banking, etc. Along with how stress may dictate an employee’s performance, the study explains how artificial intelligence can impact the stress levels and incident reporting of said employee. As an employee, this can also affect your perception of something you may have previously been familiar with and change your behavior entirely as an employee and how the work gets completed. One of the most important aspects of an organization is their employee’s well-being. The employee is what creates the culture of the company along with its customers. Learning how to adapt to certain issues and communicate it amongst your company is the difference of having a successful company.
Many of the tests conducted involved factoring statistics related to cybersecurity awareness including incident management, security awareness, the intentional use of A.I, reporting behavior that seems suspicious, and the stress level of the employee. The tests were conducted from entry level position all the way to the high up positions of different companies to be able to get a vast understanding of what each employee may deal with from a day-to-day basis. The study found that the companies that adopt certain training to keep employee up to date on new aspects of technology and A.I will have more successful implications for cyber awareness. As A.I gets more advanced, this can also add a layer of stress for employees. Although there are many positive aspects of A.I. there are many underlaying conditions of stress that come along with it. An employee may also feel at competition or threat from certain things where a human may no longer be of us. This can also lead to the spread of misinformation and misinterpretations of certain things depending on if that certain A.I was trained in. These systems would need to be monitored as such misinformation could potentially get exposed. An employee is more likely to make mistakes or overlook common security red flags depending on their line of work. For example, in sales a fraud customer could be trying to obtain or purchase something only available for certain companies or reasons. This alone can be one red flag as a fraud customer using information that may not be entirely theirs to obtain what they may be after.
For a company to be successful in incident reporting, they must have the correct tools available and adequate training to be properly prepared for today’s risks. Having the proper training for your employees will lower their stress levels and help them better detect misinformation that could’ve been provided by a fraud customer. As the use of A.I evolves, so must the way employees be trained to be most prepared for the risks that can follow.
