Cybercrime is a growing problem in the United States and many other countries and will continue to be because there is no way that is one hundred percent affective for protecting systems and data. When looking at the extent of the crime there may be criminal justice involved. There are many crimes done today over technology that happen on a daily basis, sometimes involving our own information. Personal information can be sold online without a person evening knowing. While these may seem major to a regular citizen, they are very minor compared to the extent a cybercrime can go. One thing that the government has to worry about is cyberwar, other countries hacking into United States systems and gaining information and shutting down our systems, this is very important when dealing with criminal justice. While a regular cop on the street may not understand the extent of cybercrime, they are very aware that it can happen, but it takes someone specialized to be able to deal with these events. We have discussed many rules and regulations that deal with cybersecurity in this class, and this can relate to cybercrime and cybersecurity in many ways, one example of this is an insider threat. When you have an insider threat in a business it is someone who works there or someone who is trusted inside the business and has credentials to gain access. Insider threats are sometimes very hard to track down inside a business, especially a larger business which will cause further investigation when dealing with the criminal justice aspects. There are also situations that you may not think cybercrime and criminal justice overlap, for example a murder, this is a physical action and a physical crime but looking into the text messages and the technological evidence this then takes a specialized expert of cybersecurity to look into this evidence.
