Technology has changed the definition of communication, a letter that used to take weeks to get to a location, the same message can be sent in less than a second across the country today. This has created new friendships and helped bring families together that do not live in the same location, but it has also had many disadvantages. There are many victims that are trying to hide and get away from their offender every second of the day and the growth of technology can negatively aid the interactions between these victims and offenders. Almost every person you see walking down the street has a cell phone in their pocket and that cell phone is the number one reason interactions between offenders and victims occur. If a victim decides to leave their hometown due to an incident where they were victimized, before technology it would have been very simple to get away from this incident but now that there is such an ease of communication and seeing into the lives of others, it has made it very hard to get away without being tracked down. Although it is a violation of many restraining orders to contact a person, the ease of just being a text away often violates these restraining orders, this causes the victim to be drawn back into the situation they were trying to get away from. Although it does seem that there are all negative impacts when it comes to the interactions between offenders and victims there are many things that technology has brought forward to protect victims from being attacked again such as the ease of communication. If there is a situation that someone needs to get out of it is becoming much easier to contact help and get someone to your location to aid in your situation.
