This class has improved my Spanish speaking and writing tremendously. My conjugation has improved, and I learned how to conjugate in the present tense effectively. I think my pronunciation and ability to understand the language when spoken to me have improved significantly. When it came to learning present tense conjugation I struggled a bit in the beginning but I kept studying it and practicing in our homework and I finally was understanding it and when and how to use it.
Exploring Culture
The website that we use to do our homework and assignments really helped. It set in stone a lot of ideas and new topics. It allowed me to practice new conjugation and practice Spanish on new and past assignments. It also showed culture with some assignments where we would have to talk about different countries and how they are different from one another.
Engaging in Communities
Engaging in your community is very important. It brings us together and makes us closer and makes us better people. To have a community provides you support when you may be going through tough times or just trying something new you have your community to have your back and be right behind you all the way there.
Interpersonal Communication
TalkAbroad was very interesting. Being able to talk to a Spanish speaking person was very exciting. It allowed me to look at different ways of life. What her day-to-day life is like and what her family is like and how close they are with one another.
With the first TalkAbroad conversation, I was extremely nervous and it was more noticeable. My Spanish was more choppy and just was not flowing at all. I have grown a lot since then and am able to have a much more fluent and naturally flowing conversation with a Spanish-speaking person.
Presentational Writing
In class, we had several writing assignments. Each one I got a little better. We had one where we talked about a club or a sports team, another one that was about medicine, and one where we talked about our family. In each assignment my writing got better as my vocabulary grew and my conjugation got better it was more understandable and well-written.
Interpretive Listening
In class, we would listen to videos that were completely in Spanish and went over them. I was picking up what the videos were saying even if I did not know all the words but knew some of them. I was able to understand my Professor when she would speak to us only in Spanish and I was able to reply effectively.
Interpretive Reading
The reading in class was mainly through assignments where we would read a question and answer and then online the assignments were completely in Spanish. I was able to read and translate Spanish very quickly and early on.
