This course Program Development Implementation and Funding Overview gave me the opportunity to evaluate a population that I will like to work with in my near future in the human service field. It granted me the opportunity to learn how an evaluation is processed and how it can impact an agency/program. An evaluation is based off the information that is gathered from the evaluator. The evaluation is based on what is being evaluated and how the stakeholders will benefit from the evaluation. I learned the definition of stakeholders and how important they are in an evaluation from this course. I learned the purpose of an evaluation is to improve the effectiveness and make judgement of the agency/program. I enjoyed the experience of evaluating the Southside Community Services Board and finding that their agency is effective to the community that they serve.
I learned the most from this course through our discussion board questions. Honestly, I thought our discussion board questions was a lot in the beginning because it was two per week including our other assignments and my other courses homework. However, I began to appreciate the discussion board questions because I learned a lot through them. I also learned through my classmates by interacting with them. I received a better understanding of some assignments off their feedback from their replies. This course intersects with my field because an evaluation is a part of the human service field. I may one day have interest in becoming an evaluator and do an evaluation on an agency/program. Since I had the opportunity to do an evaluation because of this course I am able to complete one if I needed to. I have applied some of what I learned from this course in one of my other courses.
