In a nutshell, the role of a CISO consists of overseeing security policies and procedures for their company. One aspect of that is ensuring the availability of your companies’ systems. A little insight, availability is one of the most important pieces of the CIA Triad. The term availability in information security basically ensures that information should and will be available whenever, wherever it is needed, with the appropriate authorization. If I held the position of a Chief Information Security Officer, my approach to ensure the availability of information would be pretty straight forward. One implementation would be establishing backups, which is fairly simple, but yet effective. Also, having the ability to closely monitor data availably gives cyber security officers a great chance to respond efficiently.
