Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
Exploring Culture
In contrasena we had cultural lessons on spain and latin america. It was interesting to learn about their countries difficulties and some of the activities they enjoyed.
I enjoyed learning about ecotourism in latin america. It was a unique expirence as i dont know much about places in these countries. It always seems a little daunting to learn about a new place so contrasena halped a lot in learning about the places.
Engaging in Communities
It is valuable to interact with out community as it help us develop as a person. Interacting with a different culture allows for aspects of it to merge with our personal culture.
We used talkabroad to interact with people from across the Spanish speaking world. I was interesting to get to know someone from a different country and learn about their art.
Interpersonal Communication
Talkabroad was a expirence that allowed us as new spanish speakers to interact with native speakers. It was fun to struggle through but relise i knew what they were talking about. I enjoyed the expirence.
I have had to speak Spanish at work before spontaneously at work, since i was the only one who knew how to. On talkabroad I had to prepare to speak for an extended period of time. It was interesting to do both of these I never felt I was fully prepared.
Presentational Speaking
In this class we had to give a presentation every other unit. This allowed for us to prepare for an extended monologue.
In the first presentation I grew by learning how to be confidant in my presentation. the second presentation taught me to prepare a better script for them.
Presentational Writing
In this class one of our first projects was on ecotourism.
Over time it became easier to write in spanish with little aid.
Interpretive Listening
Most of our homework required us to listen to speech on contrasena.
The things we listened to were anything from short stories to simple phrases. These helped us learn to pronounce words.
Interpretive Reading
In this class we have read the story of a cuban immigrant. We had to finish her story.
I found this activity to be difficult as i struggled to remember her story. However i did come up with an ending that i think fit the prompt.
