CYSE 600

Course Overview

Welcome to my CYSE 600 Cybersecurity Principles ePortfolio! This portfolio is meant to showcase what I have learned throughout the course and how I have been able to apply different cybersecurity concepts through hands-on activities and my own personal projects.

CYSE 600 focuses on the fundamental principles of cybersecurity, including network security, cryptography, access controls, vulnerability management, and information security. Throughout the semester, I have had the opportunity to build upon the knowledge I gained during my undergraduate studies while also developing a better understanding of how these different security concepts work together to protect information systems.

One thing that I have found particularly interesting about cybersecurity is that understanding how a technology works is only part of the process. It is also important to understand the security risks associated with that technology and what can be done to reduce those risks. Through the course material and practical exercises, I have been able to explore these ideas and connect them to technologies that I have previously worked with.

Portfolio Overview

This ePortfolio is organized into four sections that highlight different parts of my learning experience throughout CYSE 600.

Core Knowledge: This section focuses on three cybersecurity topics covered in the course, including cryptography and data protection, network and infrastructure security, and virtualization security. Each topic includes an explanation of its importance and examples of how these concepts can be applied.

Project Showcase: This section explores my personal cybersecurity homelab, where I have worked with virtualization, networking, and different security technologies. I explain how this project relates to cybersecurity principles and reflect on what I have learned while working on it.

Learning Reflections: This section discusses my growth throughout the course, some of the challenges I have encountered, and how I plan to apply the knowledge I have gained in future courses and my cybersecurity career.

References: This section includes the sources used throughout my ePortfolio to support the cybersecurity concepts discussed.
