Writing Sample #3: Op-Ed Essay

Reflecting on my Op-Ed essay, I see some areas on where I could’ve strengthened my argument and the presentation/ approach I took. I produced some valid points and provided compelling statistics, but the flow of my writing takes away from my voice and almost makes you feel lost on what’s actually being said. I lacked clarity, because I just had too much information piled into one. I would revise my Op-Ed piece by improving my sentence structure, make my transitions easier to follow, and make it more intellectual. I did add a lot of emotional contexts to my piece by including my thoughts and beliefs on the conservative viewpoint. Although I think I took away from my discouragement by putting too many statistics and almost burying my argument. I could have used creditable data on conservative statements and used a counter claim to make it more impactful. My sentence structure is the min downfall, grammatically it was all over the place, and made it almost suffocating. I need to have clear topic sentences, a better flow in between sentences, and properly state my argument.
