Final Reflection

Your First Semester

I don’t feel like I’ve grown throughout this semester. I feel like everything is going downhill. I expected to go into this year thinking “Wow, my life is going to be so much better now that I am alone and I don’t have to deal with my parents anymore and I’m going to meet a lot of new people”. I set a goal for myself and I didn’t even follow through. Since I’ve been in college, my mental health has gone down the drain. I’ve tried to attend counseling and it helped what it could. What I really need is a therapist, but I feel like I won’t have time to go to the doctors because of the amount of assignments I am given. I wish I knew that college was going to be more stressful than I thought 14 weeks ago. I wish I knew it was going to challenge me so much.

Study Habits

I say I study about 6 hours each week compared to the 4 hours I studied at the beginning of the year. I learned that studying the night before and right before my exam really helps a lot. I went from my exams being at least 60% to being 80%. Quizzlet helps when it can. I wish I could get tested on all of the content instead of 25 questions and then having to pay for the rest. I’ve also used the library once this semester. It was just for a meet up to work on a project. I will still be studying in the comfort of my dorm and I will be carrying over the studying the night before and right before the exam thing I have been doing.

Health Professions Learning Community

I actually don’t know how these courses are similar. I only had HLTH 101. I didn’t have any of the others. I can’t compare and contrast something if I don’t have the other half.

Parallel Plan

I am interested in Athletic Training because I already have hands-on experience from highschool. I’m also interested in it because although I am not athletic, I like to be in the sports environment. Another major I would be interested in is Physical therapy because my family has a history of constantly being in physical therapy. A benefit from having a parallel plan is just in case your intended career or major doesn’t follow through or you end up not wanting to do it anymore, you have others to fall on to. They benefit each other because they have similar classes, and the work is similar. For example, an athletic trainer provides rehab for athletes, and physical therapy provides rehab for civilians and athletes.
