Sports Persona

The social platform I chose is TikTok because of its algorithm and the strong sense of connection I feel with others in the sports industry. Another reason I went with TikTok is the variety of unique tools and editing features that allow me to be creative and express myself in different ways.

Initially, I considered using my favorite platform, Snapchat, because I like that people can’t comment on my posts unless they message me directly or “like” it. I also appreciate the feature that notifies me if someone takes a screenshot of my page — it gives me a sense of control over my content.

I also thought about using Instagram, especially since, believe it or not, I haven’t posted a picture in 10 years. I was bullied back in high school, and it made me really self-conscious about being judged by my peers. But now, I’m hoping to change that. My goal by the end of this month is to post at least two pieces of content to my Instagram, reintroducing myself and sharing my journey with confidence.

As for my first TikTok post, it’ll be an introduction sharing my aspirations as a future coach in the NFL. My follow-up post will highlight my preparation for my first Sports Industry Networking Conference (SINC). I haven’t quite decided if I want to share a backstory of how I got started in the sports industry or create a collage of videos to capture my journey so far. Either way, I’m excited to step out of my comfort zone and build my presence in the sports community!
