• Accuracy
    • The accuracy of the data is just as important as any other. If a price is listed online wrong and a member pays the price listed charging that customer for the correct price is a representation of what can go wrong. If the bank misreads a check deposited and adds the wrong amount to the account that can be the difference in someone being charged a fee for a missed payment and can even lead to a house foreclosure. Yes, it is the consumer’s job to make sure everything was imputed correctly, but it is also the bank’s job to review the data and accuracy of the information they were inputting.
  • Responsibility
    • To elaborate on this topic of responsibility or access more this can be defined as who is in charge of monitoring the data given. If any data is accessible to anyone in the organization that can be a very big issue. Many companies have implemented user roles to allow only certain people to access certain data. Such as a front desk staff member should not be allowed to manipulate a patient’s chart and edit or add unauthorized information. It is the organization’s responsibility to protect privacy and monitor who accesses the data given to make sure there are no information leaks.
  • Protection of property, records, and software
    • All information entered into a database should be protected at all costs. An accident may hurt the company’s image but can mess up people’s lives. A reputation is not more important than someone’s well-being.
  • Privacy
    • The issue that arises here is a matter of exactly what information is needed. Some sites want access to a Social Security number for a simple transaction. Sadly, this issue is not looked into more, and many just go with the flow and give the information needed to get done with what they are trying to do quicker. While not all information may be given to one site another site could require that data. Therefore, all of that data is accessible in a database. Even though this may be in different places exactly what privacy is there where all of this information is accessible and exactly what is this information being used for that we do not know about.
