If law enforcement is not involved in the process of reporting cybercrime then why put our trust in companies? The debate starts as panic can spread when people find that a massive breach has occurred and information is at risk, but companies want to save face. An organization’s image should not be more important than a consumer’s own safety. While I agree someone attempting to break in may not be as important and a customer’s information is not always taken it is never a bad thing to be safe than sorry. While yes even the people may hide details to prevent a mass panic the truth does eventually come to life when the harm is over. I believe overall that involving law enforcement has a positive impact and would benefit both the company and the consumer.
