Nobody is perfect. This is something everyone knows. Whether it is knowing information, bad days from illness or a live event, conflicts, and the list goes on. These factors can affect our thoughts and abilities. There is never a perfect day. There can be amazing days, but never perfect. To add onto this, no attackers are alike. Everyone differs in one way or another. This is why the saying above “These professionals do not always have the perfect conditions to defend against attacks.” is very true. This statement does not just apply to football or even cybersecurity. It applies to everything and everyday life. One person not being 100% focused can make a mistake letting an attacker in or one attacker accidentally targets the wrong system or leaves an opportunity to be stopped.

This does not mean that we should not try. This means we do the best that we can do. If an attacker sneaks in or sends a virus, the defender can do everything they can to stop it. Training, appropriate security measures, and security audits are all ways we can try our best even if we are not at our best. While no one can give 100% every day, giving whatever percentage one can and not letting whatever factor prevent one from doing the best is all that we can aim for.
