I have always had a fascination with technology growing up. Even at a young age I was showing my parents different ways to use floppy discs and showing my grandma how to use her first Chromebook. I built a PC by myself and have self-taught a lot of the information I know about technology. I do not deny the resources around me and use advice or critiques to my advantage whenever possible. I pick up on new items fairly quickly and best teach by showing others what I have done. While someone may not know the professional terminology I can show them the steps I took to fix the issues.
Organizing is something I love and coding and all things related involve organization and personal touches. Thinking of new ways to solve a problem and to protect information efficiently is something I believe I will love. I would love to pursue a degree in this field. I have a little experience with the cyber security aspect. Still, I am slowly learning through different training sites and getting tips from my husband who does IT for the US Navy which involves some cybersecurity. I am not in a technology role at my current place of employment but have the systems department teach me items in their free time so that I am constantly learning more information. Any mistakes I take note of and practice until I either understand or can master them.
I believe cyber is a good field to pursue as technology is constantly evolving even new phones are released constantly along with different updates to fix bugs. Technology has been growing more and more popular not just for personal use, but even for jobs and schools. This field will constantly provide new learning opportunities and chances to overcome challenges. Cybersecurity will always be needed and provides the opportunity to apply learnings in one’s everyday life such as being aware while searching the web or more protective of personal information.
