This was very interesting to watch. Seeing the number of breaches that have occurred since 2013 and the businesses used daily was shocking. I find the idea of battling quantum computers with quantum science intriguing. It reminds me of the saying “If you can’t beat them, join them.” So far we have not found an algorithm to beat these computers so instead the scientific principles of quantum science are being used to beat them. The fact the US is so far behind on this is scary and it’s like we are trying to race to the moon all over again.
An article was posted this month (February 2024) regarding a records breach on LinkedIn. This breach exposed 26 billion records. LinkedIn is used for job searching or connections and is widely used and it is scary to think of the information being out there. I think we are right to join this race and invest in securing this encryption. Technology is used every day by billions of people and is used for basically everything from paying bills to health records, etc. Every encryption can be broken, but I do believe we should be improving constantly and not be discouraged and protecting the information as technology is something we have become dependent on.
