He believes technology is a threat that we are associating ourselves with. It was believed at one point that technology was a goal or striving point for progress, but now we are hidden behind technology. Jonas believes technology has manipulated us and that due to technology we are defying how the world was meant to be by trying to control behaviors and experiment with extending one’s life span. It is stated that new ethical considerations need to be made for using technology as it is asked if that is the mark going to be left behind by someone or legacy. The writer would like binding terms of agreement and a code of conduct when using technology to preserve one’s moral compass.

The world is constantly evolving many religious entities rely on their principles on the same foundation as Jonas. Some Christians for example, believe all the examples listed in the Bible from thousands of years ago apply also to today’s time no matter how much it has changed. Personally, by thinking this I believe it is narrow-minded and limits creativity. While I can agree technology does have evil places it should not be called only evil due to its association because that is narrowing the mindset where you cannot see the good. I believe there are boundaries pressed as many appear more confident online or strive for greatness, I do not believe technology to be the cause. People have had that mindset for centuries such as over gold.

Resources:

Berdinesen, H.
