Workplace deviance refers to the desire to attack or harm an organization or company. There are two major types of deviance. Interpersonal deviance which includes lying and gossiping. Then there is organizational deviance which includes theft of information or equipment. Workplace Deviance has become more common and simple in the Cybersecurity field. With the new advances in technology over time it has become easy to attack a company. Advancements in technology also make it for it to be detected. It is easier to not get caught because they are behind a computer and cannot be seen by a camera. A common occurrence with workplace deviance can be with an unsatisfied employee if they don’t feel like they are not receiving enough credit with their work. One example is if an employee got fired, they could download or steal sensitive information from the company and a do bad things with it or release the information. Another example of workplace deviance can be someone harassing or stealing valuable information from a company they currently work for. The employee could also leave and shut down the companies cyber security systems leaving them vulnerable to an attack.
