Article Review 1

I will be reviewing “Ransomware: A Growing Menace” and focusing on ransomware becoming an increasing threat to not only the cybersecurity world but the world in general.

In the article section about ransomware becoming an increasing problem, they discuss some research about how over the pas two years, at least 16 different ransomware variants have been identified. Each different type being a different family of malware that has been developed by different cyber criminals with malicious intent. In my opinion ransomware needs to be a more focused topic in the cybersecurity field as it has many negative capabilities and can gain anyone access to any computerized system or network it gets into.

Moving on to the profit’s sections of the article, I agree with what the author shows and research about how much companies and organizations can lose in ransomware attacks. The amount lost can climb to thousands and potentially even millions of dollars. In my opinion I think ransomware attacks are near the top of the list for the biggest range of profits and money lost from big and even small organizations and companies around the world.

Talking about ransomware itself, it is very easy to get onto someone’s personal device or a computer network if not taken care of properly. Let’s be honest, anyone in this present day can get malicious ransomware on their personal device considering how people uncaringly visit websites and download files without any precaution. In the article it is stated that even thought the attackers must pay to get the advertisements users click on, what they get back is worth putting in the investment.

This is my article review on ransomware becoming an increasing threat.
