Cybersecurity Career Professional Paper
The career in the Cybersecurity field I chose for this paper is the Cybersecurity Analyst career. This is also the specific career I want to pursue in the Cybersecurity field. Cybersecurity Analysts “Protect a company’s software, hardware, and computer networks from being stolen or poisoned from hackers or people with malicious intent”. Companies both big and small have cybersecurity experts that work for them and help them protect their networks and computer systems that could store valuable data related to the company. If the data stored and protected by the company were stolen it could cause serious harm and potentially large sums of money.
There are social science principles and social science research that ties into not only just being a Cybersecurity Analyst but into the entire Cybersecurity field as a whole. These principles can go for both sides or spectrums of cybersecurity both from an expert working to defend a company or organization or from a hacker trying to hack into a system and trying to understand what made them perform a certain action. Psychology and understanding are two big principles that go into Cybersecurity.
Psychology can go into the reasoning a hacker has malicious intent and does a devious crime and does an attack on a company’s computer software and computer networks. Many things can go into why a hacker does these things. How they were introduced to things in the past can be a factor as well as the people they grew up with and the community they grew up in can contribute to bad behavior later on in life. If their parents had shown bad behavior to them while they were younger that can also be a factor because children typically represent their parents’ behavior as they get older.
Understanding can be on both sides of cybersecurity with both hackers and professional Cybersecurity experts. Experts working for companies need to understand the ins and outs of computer networking and the software for that company to be able to successfully defend that company or organization. These experts also need to understand their placement and the ethics of cybersecurity to do their job and perform their tasks professionally.
With this career I have chosen, I will explain how it related to society and marginalized groups. Again, being a Cybersecurity Analyst, you protect organizations and companies from cyber threats and hackers. The professionals that work in Cybersecurity need to conduct the social science research and go deep in understanding the psychological aspects of hackers and cyber threats. With marginalized groups, they can face a lot of backlash and hostility online in a form of cyberbullying.
To conclude, this is my career paper on Cybersecurity Analyst in the Cybersecurity field. I go into the social science principles withing this career as well as potential social science research that could be important to experts and professionals within the field. Marginalized groups and are also discussed and how technology effects them and how they can be treated in a cyber way and how this career affects society is discussed.
