SPAN 101

Exploring Culture

We explored many different cultures by examining their day-to-day activities in this course. One of the practices was to look at other Spanish-speaking places and see how they use social media. Each Spanish-speaking location had unique situations and preferred social media usage. This assignment shows that each area has its ways of doing things, from living conditions to language.

Researching different cultures widened my view on culture. The assignment did this because everyone has their way of doing things, and it’s essential to educate yourself on each culture.

Engaging in Communities / Interpretive Listening

The best way to learn Spanish is by practicing what you know by speaking to other Spanish speakers. When speaking with other Spanish speakers, you can put your skills to use and learn more while doing so.

In this project, I had to seek Spanish speakers and give them an interview. I had fun hearing the different ways and learning about the different types of Spanish; for example, the person I was interviewing used Mexican Spanish and informed me about the differences between Spain Spanish. I also had to listen to what the person I was interviewing was saying to give her proper responses.

I could try doing better next time to show more expression while I’m speaking to another person to avoid looking dull Orme not engaging in the conversation.

Interpersonal Communication

For this assignment, I described the school using gestures that indicate what I am expressing. This assignment showed me that even if you don’t know the language, you can still tell if someone is talking through their emotions, facial expressions, or tone of voice. The most challenging part of this assignment was exaggerating my emotions while talking, but I still made it clear.

Presentational Speaking

This video describes the building I’m in and what activities I do in it. This part of this project has helped me by requiring me to identify the residential situations. One thing that I believe I could do better next time is to learn more words to elaborate on why I chose to talk about this building.

Presentational Writing

I created a schedule of my responsibilities throughout the week for this project. Then, to improve my Spanish, I used this schedule to use my everyday one so I could speak and read my classes in Spanish, which will help me talk about my courses to other Spanish speakers.

Interpretive Reading

In the video above, I am reading my weekly college schedule. I would record myself speaking to hear what beats I need to improve on. I could do better to lay off my mistakes and not let an error make me talk in English. I overcame this by repeating what I said in Spanish and not including English.
