Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?
Cybersecurity is a brand new topic to me so I don’t know too much about it in general. It seems difficult to learn everything about cybersecurity, but I feel like once I retain the information, everything will start to revolve in a full circle. Cybersecurity interests me on how diverse the workforce is. At first, I wasn’t too interested in cybersecurity until I started to do more research and talk to experts in the field. After looking at some of the jobs, I have realized that the blue side of cybersecurity is what has my main interest. Being able to break into software systems and databases seems very interesting but defending those systems is what catches my thought. Cybersecurity seems difficult due to having to learn or relearn new programs and continuously broaden your knowledge. Learning the red side also seems very interesting because of how much goes into hacking those systems and databases. Another aspect that interests me is how much the job field is supposed to keep growing through the end of the decade. Having this provokes me to try and get my degree to try and start getting experience. Cybercrime is getting more common nowadays, so bringing experts in to slow this down or stop it is what our society needs. Companies’ systems that get hacked have a huge impact on the business as a whole. Some hackers will get important legal documents, payment methods, etc…I’m excited to start to grasp cybersecurity since I don’t know much about IT or cybersecurity yet, but I’m excited to start to learn and face the challenges with this course and major. I’m hoping there are a good amount of struggles through cybersecurity to prepare me for my future and how to do coding properly. By the end of this course, I hope cybersecurity INTERESTS me towards a specific job role.
