Computers and technology in general both have a long list of both pros and cons. However, it is important to realize that whether or not it be safe or unsafe much of our daily lives have to do with or revolve around computers. 

There are a lot of ways that computers make the world more safe. For example, computers have completely transformed the energy industry over the last fifty or so years. Things like smart homes and other smart devices make things more sustainable which also in turn helps with safety. Another way computers have the world safer is in hospitals and other medical practices. The health industry as a whole has been completley transformed because of computers and technology. It has allowed for a better system for medical records, better methods for diagnosis, better security protocols, and safer methods for surgical procedures. A third way that computers make the world safer is how it has transformed the workplace. All aspects of jobs in the business industry have safer communication, safer data transformation methods, and more because of the use of computers.  

Despite all of the good things that come from computers and other technological advances there are still things that are unsafe about them. One thing about computers is that it often makes for a sedentary lifestyle whether in be at home or in the workplace. This can be unsafe because it can have very negative effects on an individual’s health. Another way computers are unsafe is that they open up areas of weakness in security. Fraud and identity theft over the internet affects millions of people each year. Computers are also unsafe because it allows for issues like Cyberbullying which is a huge problem especially in younger generations. This affects safety because it can have serious consequences and effects for children who are ultimately the future.

Engineers working in cybersecurity are incredibly important to the aspect of protecting cyber networks in places like businesses and corporations. Cyber networks have a need to be kept safe in order to protect companies and the data they have because data breaches in companies can be detrimental to them or the public. Engineers do a lot of work to keep networks safe. They have knowledge in network security and security policies, as well as hardware and software advances. Cyber Crimes have become increasingly prominent today and the need for engineers to help is also becoming more and more important. Engineers have the potential to develop security protocols and policies for places and then they have to update them as hackers become more and more advanced. They work constantly to track any activity and work together to find ways to better protect the systems they are working on.
