Constructed inside an insulated 10-quart cooler, the system features a removable 6-can carrier secured with Velcro straps, an acrylic flow baffle, and two 12V submersible pumps delivering a combined nominal flow of 480 L/hr powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack. To remove 222.6 kJ of heat at an average rate of 742 W, the pumps circulate a salted ice-water bath around the cans at a local fluid velocity of 0.30 m/s. While preliminary modeling predicted a 4.43-minute cooling time under a constant 18°F (-7.78°C) bath assumption, the final analysis incorporates a water-to-ice convection check and a 2.13°C coolant temperature rise. Accounting for finite heat transfer between the returning coolant and the 1.34 kg ice bed yields an average effective bath temperature of -6.20°C (-7.27°C supply, -5.14°C return), resulting in a revised, realistic cooling time of 4.81 minutes that satisfies the five-minute performance requirement.

Project Link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1K26ZO8YseiAfUnmdqRIsGqXqOvhLj0U6?usp=drive_link

This project evaluates the design and thermal calculations for a portable beverage cooling device engineered to chill six 12-oz cans from 85°F (29.44°C) to 40°F (4.44°C) in under five minutes.
