- How does your major relate to cybersecurity technology?
- Select four other majors offered by ODU and explain how those majors relate to cybersecurity.
My major is cybersecurity and it self explanatory of how it relates to cybersecurity technology. Because the whole point of cybersecurity is to protect the security of data on the internet. The first major that closely relates to cybersecurity is information technology. This is closely related to cybersecurity because they both heavily involve technology. Information technology is the process of using a computer to exchange all types of information. Which is extremely important involving cybersecurity. They overlap in many ways, so much so that people with a cybersecurity degree can do an IT job. The second major that is closely related to cybersecurity is computer science. Computer science involves the study of computers. This is really important in relation to cybersecurity because the more we know about computers the better we can get at protecting them. We can better understand how they are getting attacked as well. The third major that is closely related to cybersecurity is criminal justice. Criminal Justice majors have the opportunity to help the world by keeping law and order. Cybersecurity is closely related because the goal of cybersecurity is also to keep law and order in the cyber realm. The fourth major that closely relates to cyber security is the law. Law also keeps order and sets certain rules that have to be followed. This can also be applied in cybersecurity. The fifth major that is closely related to cybersecurity is business management. Business management consists of managing a bunch of assets as well as being responsible for a lot of things. In cybersecurity, this is very similar. You have to also manage assets and you are also responsible for a lot. Overall all of these majors are closely related to cybersecurity, some more than others. They all have some component that is used in cybersecurity in each of those five majors.
Take fifteen minutes and find out everything you can about yourself by Googling your name. What would others learn about you? Write a quick paragraph in your ePortfolio.
When taking the time to look at the results of my name I couldn’t find anything. Others wouldn’t find anything about me because I couldn’t find anything about me. Overall, I think that I am on the internet, I just think that there is nothing connecting me to my name on the internet.
