Growing up, I have always been fond of technology. One of my longest-tenured hobbies is playing video games, either on a console or PC, which involves the understanding and application of various technologies. For some reason, the ability to comprehend and solve issues regarding technology came easily to me, as I was usually the person in my family asked to fix something regarding an electronic device. Over the years, I have developed an interest in computers and their many features. Only behind sports, technology is the second hobby that I enjoy most and can actively engage in without getting bored. Going into college I was an undecided major and had no idea of what I wanted to do, or what career I wanted to pursue. Throughout my first year of college, I spoke to many friends and family members for any kind of guidance or advice, and they all said the same thing. They told me to choose something that will be in demand for many years to come, and ultimately something that I am enthusiastic about at the end of the day. After many conversations, the cybersecurity field came to mind, and I soon realized that this is the field I want to pursue a career. In today’s society, everything is becoming more reliant on technology. Technology plays a significant role in all aspects of life, such as transportation, food, entertainment, shelter, and more. I am interested in cybersecurity technology because a lot of information is shared and stored on the internet, and without the proper protection it can be exposed to people with ill intentions. I have experienced my information being taken online and know how it feels to have confidential information stolen. I would like to prevent this from happening to others in the future by obtaining a career in the cybersecurity field and contributing in any way possible.
