After reviewing the NICE framework, I have noticed that I would like to focus my career on the collect and operate/operate and maintain categories. To elaborate further, the areas that caught my attention the most were cyber operations and network services. For a future career, I can see myself undergoing several tasks including installing, configuring, testing, operating, maintaining, and managing networks and their firewalls which involve hardware and software. The physical aspect of cybersecurity intrigues me the most due to the complexity of it. I would also enjoy gathering evidence on criminal or foreign intelligence entities to prevent or limit a variety of threats or attacks including espionage, insider threats, and international terrorist activities. I believe that the oversee and govern area would appeal to me the least out of all the categories. Being in a managerial position and having countless responsibilities and duties seems incredibly stressful for one individual to take upon all on their own. Furthermore, it seems likely to be more of a target at the top of an organization compared to being somewhere along the way in the organization’s “rankings”.
