After watching the video, I noticed that it is common for the media to give a false representation of different aspects of hacking. In “Skyfall” and “Mr. Robot”, both scenes occurred much faster than they would in real-time. Also, a lot of media creates false images and terms to make the scenes “cooler” or more appealing to the audience. I will say that in the examples provided, the realism came from the types of attacks and code being used during the attacks. An issue that stems from the media’s representation of hacking is the potential influence it may have. If these shows and movies continue to make hacking seem easy and fun, it will likely convince individuals to engage in criminal behavior because they see how “simple” it can be. In reality, it isn’t as simple as it is portrayed to be and can lead to serious consequences.
