After viewing the nine questions in the Social Media Disorder Scale, I answered no to eight out of ten. The two questions that I answered yes to were:
“…often felt bad when you could not use social media?” – I wouldn’t say it is often, but I usually entertain myself with social media so if I lose connection or service then I will find myself bored.
“…regularly neglected other activities (e.g. hobbies, sport) because you wanted to use social media? – It certainly doesn’t occur regularly, but at times I will procrastinate what I am doing because of social media.
I believe that most people struggle with the usage of social media and can’t live without it. In an age where most kids are growing up on technology as their source of entertainment, it is common that they rely on it for many aspects. The patterns that can be found across the world can depend on the economy of that location and the dynamic of that particular society.
