Writing Reflection 3
Using WordPress to make an e-portfolio helped me for the better. The site’s simplicity and ergonomic design makes designing a website or blog a breeze for just about anyone. Anyone can go to the site and make a beautiful website in mere minutes. No expertise in web design or programming needed because that’s what site is designed for. Personally, I can give nothing but good reviews for this site. Although, I know some students that do not support WordPress and would rather design a website from scratch. WordPress has increased my effectiveness as a writer and student here at Old Dominion University.
To go into detail, WordPress is a website builder where I can put together a website. First, I name the website. This website is specifically named Josh’s E-Portfolio which I chose to be easily identified by my professor. Second, I can design the individual pages that people can see and change the layout of it to my liking. In WordPress, there is a setting where you toggle who can see my website. In order to do so, hover over the settings icon in the left-hand corner and click on reading. From there I can publish the site online or just use it privately, but there are other configurations based on my preferences for a blog or website.
Using this website has helped me become a better writer and student here at Old Dominion University. My writing has been more organized whenever I’m writing a paper by being in sequential order, from beginning to end. I have no experience designing websites but, I can utilize this site with ease. Naming my website, setting the layout, and configuring settings within WordPress could not be any easier; it just takes time and patience, but anyone could use this website and benefit from it in many ways.
