Why am I interested in cybersecurity? I believe It started in 9th grade in high school when my cybersecurity teacher had us walk outside the school building. He proceeded to lockpick and bypassed every locked door on the way back to class. He told us that to be a hacker we had to think that every wall can be broken , every door can be bypassed and every rule could be bent. I thought that was the coolest thing as a child. Since then I have always attempted to find ways past restrictions, rules and any obstacle I find. I also find cybersecurity fun as it is a challenging field with tons of fun people with that same drive as me .Another factor was the prospect of my Job being harder being replaced by technology than others. I wanted a job that wouldn’t feel monotonous and stale. Besides that I want to help find information no matter how locked away it is or how much people don’t want me to know it. The world is filled with disinformation and misinformation. I personally hate being lied to without logic so I turned to cybersecurity to protect the truth and rationality. The prospect of making decent money is very enticing as well.
Another aspect of cybersecurity I enjoy is the ability to try my hardest to stay anonymous. I like to stay under the radar and protect my data. I hate giving away information without my permission. My privacy is extremely important to me and I like people not knowing who I am. The best part of cybersecurity is the diversity of roles I could do in the field whether its blue teaming or red teaming. Or even the fabled purple teaming. The possibilities are endless and I love being on the edge of technology.
