This is because financial gain is one of the most powerful motivations behind crime and some examples of this would be ransomware, fraud, and theft. Political is the second motive because groups commit certain actions just to prove a point, make a statement, or disrupt an infrastructure. Revenge would be the third motive, grudges are a very powerful thing, and retaliation can lead to someone coming after you because you have wronged them. Recognition would be the fourth motive because hackers like the attention. Seeing their work being effective makes them feel good and worthy. Curiosity would be the fifth motive because newer hackers may try things just to test the waters, but the acts usually aren’t bad because they are just starting. Entertainment would be the sixth motive just because they like to do it for fun. I think hackers prioritize gain but get a sense of fun out of it as well. Boredom would be the seventh motive because this can cause them to commit risky acts because they are bored. I feel like this isn’t as strong as motivation as profiting money or for revenge. The last motive would be multiple reasons, this category is wide, and it’s hard to just narrow it down to one so it’s pretty much just a combination of all the motives before.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
\u00a0I think the number 1 motive is money.
