1.  How can you tell if your computer is safe?

2. Describe three ways that computers have made the world safer and less safe.

Computer safety relies on a point-in-time and is not an absolute concept. There are plenty of factors to consider when considering your computer’s safety. It is safe to say that it is more than just securing the operating system, the applications and the firewall. Computers can be vulnerable in many ways which is why plenty of people make it a hobby to break into them. One of the most important aspects of computer safety is being aware of the dangers that are on the internet. There are plenty of phishing attempts out there, viruses, ransomwares, etc. that take advantage of known and unknown vulnerabilities that exist within computers. To maximize security, it is important that the user is educated and aware of the possible dangers that can come from the internet and take caution when it comes to interacting with it.

The computer has quickly become an integral part of society within the span of a couple of decades. Now, most infrastructures within society have come to rely more heavily on the integration of computers in day-to-day functions. Advancements in computer technology have paved the way for a better and safer world despite its negatives.

Communication has seen great improvements in the last couple of years. The computer has made it easier to communicate information through the internet about things such as healthcare and collaborations. In healthcare, communication has made it easier to relay information with regards to life saving procedures that can prolong lives.

Security has never seen better days since the advent of computers. Now we can actively monitor any suspicious activities and discern patterns that might lead to acts of violence. Computers have also made it easier to solve crimes, gather evidence and evaluate large chunks of data for a more effective justice system.

Banking on its own can be very complex given the number of people that utilize it and infrastructures that require them for more accurate accounting of transactions. Computers have made it easier to keep track of finances, reduce the use of cash and provide people with ways of maintaining and building an accountability of record to ensure that they can sustain financing of debt as a result of massive inflation in the face of growing capitalism.
