Assignment Takeaway for A5
After completing assignment five: five random good deeds, it has benefited me it numerous ways. For instance, after visiting the Genieve Shelter, I believe I have grown as a person. Talking with those women made me look at life differently. It made me cherish all the things I do have and not take them for granted. By doing good deeds and helping others, it has also impacted my sense of self-esteem and self-worth. As a result, I feel less stress and more comfort knowing I made the world a better place.
This assignment has also lead me to believe I’ve increased my social network. For instance, I believe after completing these random good deeds, my positive behavior transferred to the individuals I helped, motivating them to carry on their own positive actions.
Assignment Takeaway for A4
After completing the Love Style questionnaire and assignment four, I learned of the six types of love a person can display. However, of the six, I displayed three including, Ero, Stroge, and Agape. My results indicated I am passionate lover, I value friendship in a relationship, and my love is unconditional. However, it also showed me the type of love I do not want to give nor receive. For instance, I do not want a love based off deception and infidelity. These characteristics are displayed in the following types: Ludus, Pragma, and Mania. I want my relationship to continue to thrive. Thus, I will try my best to maintain the type of love I display now.
Assignment Takeaway for A3
During the course of assignment three, I learned its possible to site racial slurs without having a racial intent. For instance, in Micheal Richards’ tirade, he only used racial slurs in retaliation of the African Americans disrespecting his show. Personally, I find this helpful. This shows me don’t be so quick to judge a book by its cover. To look deep beyond the outside, finding a reason why something happened or a reason why people are the way they are. For example, if I looked at the news, instead of TMZ’s video of Richard’s tirade, I would have called him a racist. However, after watching the video, I see what caused Richard to react the way he did. I’m not saying his behavior was justifiable, but I understand why and how it happened.
Assignment Takeaway for A2
During the course of assignment two, I learned how I wanted others to interpret me. For example, throughout the assignment I only chose pictures that would represent me as a mother, sister, daughter, and student. I intentionally left out pictures that could sabotage the image I was trying to display. For instance, a picture of me partying or flicking someone off would not enable me to self-promote myself in a positive manner. Thus, I learned how I wanted to be characterized, what characteristics make me who I am as a person, and what characteristics to avoid in order to become a better person. In the end, this assignment was really an eye-opener to who I want to be emotionally and physically.
