With the completion of my first year of college, I feel as if I am more prepared for a career in accounting. While I have only completed one year, it has given me a taste of college and improved my overall confidence in my ability to succeed and obtain a job as an accountant. I passed each course with a limited amount of difficulty and gained much needed experiences along the way. For example, my English 211C course provided me with skills that will help me complete future writing assignments. I was also able to improve my ability to form an argument as well as gain some experience with presenting to an audience. My classes also helped me learn my limitations in regards to assignment completion as I was forced to develop strategies to clear my head when I knew I needed a break. As classes will get more difficult as I make my way through college, these strategies will help me to complete future course assignments with minimal stress. There were other courses that helped to advance my knowledge of my career field. For example, my business class that I took in my first semester. It provided me with a general overview of the many majors in the College of Business, which included accounting. My public speaking class also gave me much needed experience with speaking and presenting to an audience as well as creating presentation visuals that interests listeners. Overall, each of my courses have helped to prepare me for my intended future in accounting my providing me with various experiences and skills that I will use in the future.
