Assignment Reflection

In English 211c, we were assigned to write a Rogerian Argument style paper. This involved keeping a neutral tone while providing readers with information on the topic so that they may form their own conclusions. While I initially thought that I did pretty well, I got a lower score than expected. This was mostly due to the fact that I made small mistakes. For example, I did not do my in-text citations correctly and, in one case, cited the wrong page numbers. In one instance, I strayed from the required present tense by accidentally using past tense. I also did not eliminate all bias from the paper and accidentally identified one side of the argued topic as the opposition. I also came off as argumentative through the way I phrased some of my sentences, which was was to be avoided in a Rogerian argument. These were all mistakes that I should have been able to avoid but did not due to the fact that I did not comb through my paper for any mistakes. If I had a chance to revise my Rogerian paper, I would definitely reread and rewrite it so as to fix the mistakes that I carelessly made.
