Interpretive, Interpersonal, and Presentational Modes of Communication
I learned an abundance of new information in Ms. Donoghue’s Spanish 101 class and have had the incredible chance to improve our fluency in another language. One of our first objectives for the term was to acquire the necessary level of Spanish, such as a greater understanding of verbs and the ability to communicate in simple sentences and greetings. We were supposed to have mastered both the fundamentals of the Spanish language as well as all we had been taught. Some of the difficulties I experienced were doing tests because they seemed to rely heavily on context clues that were all in Spanish. I picked up a lot of new knowledge, including Spanish verbs and how to carry on a conversation in the language since this term. This term I have definitely made significant progress with a lot of hard work. Since the only thing I could say at the beginning of the semester was “hello,” I have learned a lot.
Engaging in Communities
The importance of engaging in my community is high because these are the people that I surround myself with daily and I believe that it is important to be able to get along with everyone and just make the world a better place. Some examples of this are volunteering at my local food pantry and having conversations with random strangers who just look like they could use someone to talk to. You never know just how much you can make a difference in someone’s life by doing something as little as having a conversation with them.
