Mitigating Ransomware Risks in Manufacturing and the Supply Chain: A Comprehensive Security Framework
Ransomware is a common risk that corporations and other companies face in the online environment. A phishing email can easily encrypt all important documents and files and request bitcoins to decrypt or to locking the system entirely. A way ransomware gets into a company is through employees who have access to download files online. Ransomware gets into the system through this way by human error and can cause chaos quickly if not controlled, and a deeper look of this is through Saudi Arabia and their companies centered there.
In Saudi Arabia, Aljoghaiman and his teams conducted and administered self-surveys on 246 employees in different businesses and companies. The team had one question in mind, which is if employees know about these risks and how they manage with them with computers and other technology. The study itself is seeking the answer this question and to figure out how important it is for employees and other staff members to have knowledge about ransomware and what to do. This survey involved employee training awareness and various other aspects of general cybersecurity safety. As a result of the survey and the data gained from it, it showed direct and indirect ways that employees can face risks with installing ransomware and various other cyberthreats into companies, which makes policies and employee training especially important for companies in the future. While employee training is costly, employee training is extremely important to protect a company from human error of downloading malicious or dangerous files through businesses. The study through determinism states that having general technology literacy is important for staying safe on the web in general for society and gives a notable example of human factor with technology.
In conclusion, the study analyzes and fully details how important it is to have employee training and enforcement and policies to manage and control ransomware attacks before they even happen. The study highlights aspects of the importance of human element and cybersecurity in a business setting that benefits the businesses’ safety and to protect the business from online threats. The study describes that employment training is vital and gives what employees can do to avoid malicious software and phishing attempts through emails and other forms of communication over the internet.
