Journal #9

Upon completing the Social Media Disorder scale, I obtained a score of two out of nine, with two affirmative responses. Typically, I do not depend on social media; yet I frequently find myself engaging with TikTok extensively. In my attempts to minimize video consumption, I invariably return to that application. Additionally, when attempting to distract myself from certain matters, I ascend there and watch videos throughout the day.

In my opinion, the scale is not consistently accurate, as individuals vary significantly. I believe the scale is intended for individuals who cannot envision their lives without social media networks. In terms of the other people, I think they’re just doing it for fun. However, it is a good way to find out about everything on the list to see about each category.

Family education has the most important effect. Most of the time, my family and I were outside playing sports with my siblings, so we weren’t often on our phones at home. We would play outside even when we had free time after school, so we wouldn’t go on the internet. Our phones became more interesting to us as we got older, but we still didn’t use them all day.
