Cyber technology increases the risks for deviance in the workplace because it could cause unwanted access to someone’s files or information that should not be shared with others. A perfect example of this would be in the Police Department when there is a dirty cop that can access files of another Officer in order to be an informant of someone who is participating in illegal activities. Cyber technology puts a lot of vital information at risk such as health records, or even criminal records that are supposed to be sealed away. Another example of this would be a closed adoption where the parent signed away all visitation rights to their child but were able to gain access due to the advanced technology that we have today. It is not only illegal to obtain information without permission, but it is morally wrong as well. In the workplace there are breaches of systems that can happen from the inside that often go unnoticed because there are no obvious signs of any breaches. This is a major concern because someone inside of your company could be participating in illegal insider trading and selling or acting on information that is nonpublic and cause a potential threat to you and your company. Cyber Technology should be taken seriously and only people with the right intentions should ever be given access to critical information in order to prevent breaches from happening inside of companies. Sometimes the biggest threats to institutions can be the people from inside and in order to prevent detrimental leaks that could ruin the company or even cause it to lose profits we have to be able to understand that yes cyber technology has caused us to have major breakthroughs, but it is a blessing and a curse, and we have to protect ourselves from all of the damage that it could potentially cause.
