Select four other majors offered by ODU and explain how those majors relate to cybersecurity.

Different aspects of cybersecurity can be seen throughout a variety of majors at Old Dominion University. Some majors relate to cybersecurity in different ways than others. One example of this can be seen with the Information Technology major also known as IT. The information technology major deals with the management of computer information systems. This major relates to cybersecurity because the computers and any other system that they work with can be attacked at anytime. Therefore, aspects of cybersecurity need to be implemented to ensure there systems stay secure.

Engineering is another major that can relate to cybersecurity. Many engineers, such as computer engineers and systems engineers have jobs that involve some level of cybersecurity knowledge. Cybersecurity is necessary in this field because some critical infrastructure that engineers work with such as transportation systems or energy infrastructure need to be protected at all times.

Another major that is offered by Old Dominion University that can relate to cybersecurity is computer science. Computer science deals with the study of computers and all of the phenomena that is associated with them. This relates to cybersecurity because computers can be used by hackers to gain important information from secure networks. I would assume that someone in this major would need to have at least some experience of cybersecurity since they deal with computers.

A final major that can relate to cybersecurity is Sociology. Sociology deals with studying the social aspects of society as well as the effects of human behavior. This major relates to cybersecurity because it may look at the social component of cybersecurity and how it is effecting our society as a whole. It may also look at how humans behave online and how it is impacting our society today. Since cybersecurity is a fairly new field, there is probably a lot of data that sociologists can look at and study.
