1. Describe four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individuals.

One ethical issue that arises when storing individual’s data is confidentiality. Being able to protect users’ information is very important. Cybersecurity techniques need to be implemented so that only the ones authorized to see the data will be able to. Otherwise hackers as well as anyone else could steal data from others.

Another ethical issue that arises when storing electronic information about individuals is integrity. The data that is stored needs to be not modified. Only those authorized to do so should be able to modify any data that is being stored. It would be very unethical if anyone could modify information that belongs to another individual.

A third ethical issue that arises when storing electronic information about individuals is Consistency. Consistency becomes an issue if the data that you see one day is different the next day. The data must be consistent so that individuals know what information is factual and what information is not.

A final ethical issue that arises when storing electronic information about individuals is if data becomes unavailable. If information is being electronically stored it must be readily available to the authorized individual. Timely access is critical for any individual when storing their data.

In conclusion, there are many ethical issues that may arise when individuals have their data stored electronically. It is important to take certain precautions to ensure the data is being properly stored. Nobody wants to have their information modified or even lost. Understanding the the ethical issues that can occur and taking proper action is of much importance.
