A major in Criminal Justice relates to cybersecurity because fraud and attacking a network with malicious intent is a crime. There must be someone to prosecute that person or group for the damages they have done to the network. They could have also stolen a person’s personal information, like credit cards, social security number, addresses, etc. A major in database administration is relevant to cybersecurity because databases are what manage our records and personal information. That information must be secured and knowledge in cybersecurity can help keep that information secure. Another major that relates to cybersecurity is Information System and Technology, this major involves with networks and computer systems. They need cybersecurity to help protect the networks for any attacks outside or within their systems. For example, a network and computer administrator need to install and configure network and internet systems; so, in order to make those systems effective and secure they need to know about cybersecurity to help prevent future attacks. Another major that relates to cybersecurity is computer engineering, they need to configure what the computer needs hardware wise to sustain itself and the rest of the system. A computer engineering major must develop software and their systems, they need to make sure those systems are secure and that any sensitive information contained in databases are protected from malicious attacks that could happen. A computer science major can create software to protect computers or servers from going down in the event of an attack. They can create software like Norton or McAfee for the public to prevent attacks on their computers or networks. A computer science major as a web administrator, must provide maintenance activities on their servers or website applications, they will from time to time upgrade their security systems, like the way people log in to their bank accounts or to see medical records.
