This course was challenging but a valuable course that significantly strengthened my understanding of Linux and its role in cybersecurity. Through the hands-on Linux labs, I gained practical experience working with command-line tools, system configuration, networking commands, and basic security analysis. Instead of just learning concepts in theory, the labs required me to actively interact with the operating system, troubleshoot issues, and think critically about how systems behave in real environments.
Overall, this class helped build confidence in using Linux as a daily tool rather than something intimidating or unfamiliar. The trial-and-error process in the labs taught me how to research problems, interpret system output, and apply solutions independently. These experiences directly relate to my career goals in cybersecurity since Linux is foundational to penetration testing and security operations. CYSE 270 reinforced the importance of persistence, technical curiosity, and hands-on learning, which are skills I will continue to rely on as I move forward in the field.
