Political motivations are common among hacktivists who target governments and corporations to promote their agendas. Recognition is another key factor as some hackers seek status or credibility within the cyber community. Multiple reasons rank in the middle as many cybercriminals have mixed motivations. Entertainment is next because as some hackers break into systems for amusement. Boredom is the least logical motive since there are many legal ways to engage in stimulating activities without breaking the law.
