NIST Cybersecurity Framework
The NIST Cybersecurity Framework is put into place to help manage cybersecurity risk, bring clear understanding of an organization’s driver and extreme security considerations. Additionally, as a result of these being put into place, we have benefited from this. For example, bringing recognition to the role privacy protection plays, and civil liberties. This in fact is a huge benefit it was imposed by using methodology which is designed to complement with an organization with such processes and provide guidance to facilitate privacy risk management. Also, integrating privacy and cybersecurity has benefitted organizations in general by increasing customer confidence, enabling more standardized sharing of information, and having operations simplified across legal regimes. Alongside privacy risk management, the framework itself has improved cybersecurity framework by further expanding its cybersecurity risk management which relates to critical infrastructure. These include sectors of economy or society. Which has major influence in areas of not-for-profit organizations regardless of it focus and it provides also is not country specific. This could help strengthen organizations outside the United States and also use the Framework to strengthen their own cybersecurity efforts. But most importantly the Framework can contribute to developing a common language for international language cooperation on critical infrastructure cybersecurity.
Ethical Considerations of CRISPR Gene Editing
Based on my readings from the Bio Cybersecurity section of the course One of the ethical concerns that I ran into was the security of the laboratory environment. For this aspect alone, this issue is tremendously important. For example, when the example was given in class about the Ransomware attack that was launched onto a laboratory that contain millions of people DNA and extremely important evidence for crime. This is a huge ethical concern nonetheless someone with the ability to hack into a Labatory could change DNA from a crime scene to frame the victim, or possibility they could manipulate the DNA within the lab to create a very powerful Bioweapon, which could affect the lives of millions. Therefore, this is when the possibilities become endless to where this could take us. Nonetheless, when it come to the safety of Bio Cybersecurity there should be more action taken on having security networks being setup into play so that there is a certain amount of safety when to comes to enabling certain disease to happen, biowarfare, or the stealing one’s identity. Those security networks could consist of stronger firewalls, system backups, additional in lab security and mandatory updates or checks on their equipment.
Opportunities for Workplace Deviance
Yes, absolutely cyber technology has created opportunities for workplace deviance. With how technology has improved and will continue to improve there has been major increases in minor misuses and overtime it will escalate to more harmful outcomes. Also, another way cyber technology has created opportunities for workplace are companies failing to implement the best security practices due to a lack of information, not having enough empathizes on security risk and a lack of enforcing excessive training to decrease the number of deviances happen. For example, a person working at a hospital with zero training prior to accepting the job would be more likely be more acceptable for deviance than anyone who would be trained. Secondly, those small minor incidents could cause major deviances including outside attacks or even inside attacks as well. Which would cause a major problem with information within the company to be stolen and outside the company as well.
