How do engineers make cyber networks safer?

Secure cyber networks are vital in order to ensure a system’s security, and the people behind those networks are just as important. Engineers perform a wide variety of tasks to ensure that risks and vulnerabilities are limited within a system. With constant updates and fixtures, engineers are able to keep cyber networks safe. They can identify problems, and troubleshoot them, while also offering potential solutions. Engineers also identify unauthorized intrusions and improve systems accordingly. They can also perform penetration tests to check how secure the system is and adjust it accordingly. It is also vital that engineers are able to collaborate with others to make sure that security goals are met. They must collaborate with management, IT specialists, and programmers in order to meet security objectives. Since engineers are required to fix security problems, it is very important that they have good communication skills to adequately receive orders from their seniors. Providing training for other engineers and teammates also allows for improved security. Engineers also prepare for hacking, malware, viruses, and ransomware attacks. By making sure that data is well protected and encrypted, they ensure that no harm comes to sensitive data. Cyber security engineers play an important role in network security, therefore playing a major role in many industries. Gas, water, and electric plants wouldn’t be able to function properly without security systems. Due to the great importance that many of these systems have, they are susceptible to attacks by hackers and terrorists. The same applies to banks, airports, and military/government bases. Not only do engineers create algorithms for these entities to ensure smooth operations, but they also create networks that are capable of withstanding attacks. Since cyber crime allows the offender to remain anonymous and attack from anywhere in the world, it is vital that cyber engineers continue to make networks safer.
