A major that ODU provides that some might not think about that requires amazing cybersecurity to make sure the job is done well is accounting. For larger companies their accounting department is one of the most important, but not a lot of accounting is done by hand anymore, most of it is done through programs on a computer and it is important to those companies to keep that information safe. A data breach from an accounting department could lead to a drop in stock prices for the company, a competitor finding out the company is developing a new item, and many more reasons as to why a accounting department would want a cybersecurity specialist.   Another major that has a major need for cybersecurity is Finance, this is a little more of a straight on reason though. Most people are the weakest link from a cybersecurity standpoint, they are the ones who will fall for a phishing attack, they are the ones who will use a very simple password like, Doglover123, and people are the ones who are most unreliable when it comes to social engineering. People are most likely going to fall for some trap by a bad guy and give up the data that could get said bad guy into a financial firm’s office that could get card data on thousands of people, that’s why cybersecurity is important to finance. Computer Science is a obvious one, no matter how good the tech you engineer is, as long as there is no one trying to help insure there is no data breach and no cybersecurity specialist on the team the new product will always have a large risk and bigger companies will stick to older more reliable tech until they are sure the new ones is safe. Finally there is Management, management are the ones who are normally in charge of the pay of the employees they are above, if a hacker was to get access to a managers account they could steal peoples data that could lead to Identity theft and many more worse things, that is why cybersecurity is important to management.
