I completed the survey. I am on the safe side because I hardly experience cyberbullying in my life. A lot of the questions are focused on getting specific and evaluating whether a person has encountered cyberbullying or not. With the scale, there are only four options: never, once, a few times, and many times. Some of the questions are when other people experience cyberbullying and the different methods that people can be bullied online. By rating the questions by the frequency, it allows researchers to understand if the person is likely to be cyber bullied or not. On one hand, the generality of the questions may lead people to mistaken the severity of the chart. For example, the question about “someone threatened to hurt me online” is not an accurate way to phrase a question because people can joke or make bad comments in a funny way. In that case, the person may believe that he/she is a victim of cyberbullying, but in reality, just the recipient of a harmless intention. Expanding on the question by providing examples will help people to answer the question in an objective way. The Grasmick self-control survey highlights the activities that correlate to people’s self-control. It measures based on a person’s rating of each of the questions. Both of these surveys have their own form of presenting questions and getting responses. Criminologists can use the items to test the relationships and form hypotheses to perform more research on the topic. For example, they can measure aggression and cyber-bullying to see if there is a connection to each other. Once they get the results, they can form solutions to combat the hypotheses. They might propose using other methods to relieve aggression, so less people are affected by cyber-bullying. They might use gaming as a form of therapy and help reduce the stress levels by releasing hormones from the brain as a result of stimulation. After studying the solutions, they can form policies that can serve as political proposals or even draft bills for meeting the problem. For example, they can come up with a stronger definition of cyber-bullying and seek to enforce punishments for those that commit crime through cyber-bullying. By defining the sleek slopes, it allows the government to regulate cyber-bullying and prevent people from trying to cyber-bully when they know that their actions are subject to law.
